Shirley Ann Burgess was called Home to Glory on June 29, 1999. Born May 4, 1941, in Greenville, South Carolina, Shirley Ann was the daughter of the Beatrice Moore Henderson and Elder Saul B. Henderson. She began her education at Allen Elementary School in South Carolina. She moved to cincinnati at age thirteen. She completed high school in the public school system. She continued her education at the University of Cincinnati in the Pre-Nursing program. She transferred to Northern Kentucky School of Nursing and she obtained her Practical nursing Degree. She worked in nursing for three decades throughout Cincinnati. She was well respected, loved and known for her many acts of kindness for those in need and for her gentle heart. Shirley was united in marriage to Charles Burgess of Cincinnati. To this union was born nine children. Shirley was baptized in the name of he Lord Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost at Bethlehem Temple under the late Bishop Elzie W. Young. She later united with First Pentecostal Church in 1973. She was a member of the Media Ministry and served with them until her health began to fail. She leaves to cherish her memory; mother, Mrs. Beatrice Henderson; nine children: Karen Y. Burgess, Charles T. Burgess, Anthony (Carol) W. Burgess, Sherry L. Burgess, Jacqueline K. Burgess, Jerome Burgess, Linda R. Burgess, Sandra M. (Donald) Hankerson. She has a foster daughter, Rita Logan, sixteen grandchildren, Eboni Kennedy, Benjamin Kennedy II, Charles Burgess, Michael Burgess, Kim Twyman, India Burgess, Olivia Burgess, Ishea Burgess, Anthony Burgess Jr, Uquavis Harthorne, Tommy Burgess Jr., Cheslsey Burgess, Jamael Burgess, Brent Burgess, Riunita Logan, Rayshun Logan, great-grandchildren, Ja'Shun Brown, three sisters, Virginia Henderson Allen (Willie Allen, Deceased), Marcia Henderson Garrison (Thomas Garrison, deceased), Tonya Henderson Brady (Tony), and three brothers, Leon Henderson (Elaine), Winston Henderson, and Dr. Clyde Henderson (Janis), uncle Dr. J. W. Henderson, Greenville, SC and great uncle, Henry Henderson, Greenville, SC, Six aunts, Pearl White of Cleveland, Ohio, Ruth Barber of Greenville, SC, Rozella Champion of LA, Calif, Mary Riggins-Best of Jamaica Queens, New York, Mary Henderson of Greenville, SC, one great-aunt, Bernice Henderson of Greenville, SC and two special friends, Emma Walker and Carrie Gilmore. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Rodney Allen, Clyde E.
