Obituary

Sara Jane Ferguson was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Commsee (Rock) and Louise Shambray on February 2, 1948, in Greenville, Alabama. She departed this life on October 27, 2020, from a short battle with multiple myeloma. Sara was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Dearis J. Bolden, sister, Vicki, brother, Oscar, and twin sister, Mary Shambray.

Sara graduated from Greenville High School. Soon after, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she met and married Huey Ferguson. She attended nursing assisting school where she graduated and went on to work for an Orthodox Jewish home for over 25 years. She retired from Cedar Village in 2008.

Sara accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at a very early age and sang in the Unity Missionary Mass Choir. She enjoyed cooking, going to church, traveling, family time, and going to the casino.

Sara leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Huey Ferguson; two daughters: Inga (James) McGlothin, and Rita (Lonzo) Clark; son, Benjamin Ferguson (Latisha); three siblings: brother, Bernard Shambray (Greenville, AL), sister, Zula Shambray (Greenville, AL) and sister, Hazel Benion (Detroit, MI); five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law from Louisiana; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; best friends: Martha Battle and Edna Durant; neighbors: Pam and Berry; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 3126 Fairfield Ave, Cincinnati  (45207).   The funeral service will be for family only. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing .

Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.

In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter  the service and social distancing must be practiced.  Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
