Sammi Tanyka
Phillips
January 25, 1977 — May 24, 2026
Sammi Tanyka “Ms. Giggles” Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio, was called home on May 24, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on January 25, 1977, to the late Thelma Phillips, Sammi was the youngest of ten children. From a young age, she found joy in track, reading, volleyball, cooking and most of all, being surrounded by family and friends. That joy never left her and remained a defining part of who she was.
If you have had the privilege to know Ms. Giggles, then you already know why she got that nickname lol. She was known for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and having a presence that made people feel welcomed wherever she went. She was outgoing, witty, always had the best advice, and had an answer/medicine for everything. Whether she was laughing with you, cooking a meal, speaking truth into your life, or simply showing up when you needed her most, Sammi showed unconditional love and protection to those around her. She often reminded people that “Everything happens for a reason” and that “This too shall pass,” phrases she lived by and carried through every season of her life.
Her love for her family was unwavering. She was always present, pushing her children forward, standing in their corner, and being a constant source of love, encouragement, and strength. Sammi took care of everyone. No matter what she had going on, she showed up for friends, family, and even strangers. She always made sure the people around her were cared for and never hesitated to help someone in need.
Outside of family, Sammi enjoyed shopping, cooking, watching crime shows, listening to music, learning new recipes, and spending long conversations on the phone with her “babe,” Randolph Allen, her longtime partner of over 30 years. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Mei’Lani, who brought endless joy to her life. Her home always carried good vibes, filled with laughter, stories, food, and comfort that made people feel at peace the moment they walked in.
Her influence extended far beyond her own family and reached numerous people who benefited from her compassion and generosity. For more than twenty years, Sammi devoted her life to foster care, opening her heart and home to children and families in need. Over the years, she impacted hundreds of lives, providing stability, guidance, encouragement, and compassion that left a lasting impression. Too many, she was a safe space, a source of love, and someone who was always listening. Her kindness, wisdom, and support changed countless lives and the love she poured into others will endure forever.
Sammi’s life reflected love in action. Her selflessness, generosity, and the love she shared so freely with others will remain one of the many gifts she leaves behind. Continuing her legacy are her better-half, Randolph Allen, 52; her children, Ra’Na’yzia, 29; Michael, 22; Mar’Kia, 21; Grace, 21; and Ezabella, 12; her beloved granddaughter, Mei’Lani, 1; who brought her so much pride and joy; three brothers, four sisters, her puppy snow, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all those fortunate enough to have been loved, encouraged, and cared for by her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Phillips, whom she lovingly cared for until her final days, as well as her brother, Alexander Phillips, and her brother-in-law, Mark Davenport.
Although her physical presence is gone, Sammi’s spirit and legacy remain. Her legacy is one of love, sacrifice, service, strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. The impact she made on the lives of others will never be forgotten, and her memory will continue to live through the people she loved, supported, mentored, and inspired.
