Obituary

Sam Jackson Sr.'s sunrise was on January 26, 1937 in Eufaula, Alabama to the union of Mary Francis Paige and Andrew Jackson, Sr. At an early age, Sam and his family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Catherine Baldwin on November 8, 1958. This union was blessed with 7 children, three boys, Andrew, Sam Jr. & Darryle, & four girls, Sandra, Shirley, Cathy and Norma Jean. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until he was honorably discharged. Sam's loves were his family, baseball & gambling. He was an avid baseball player and enjoyed going to the Cincinnati Red's games. He was a member of the NAACP and Local 265. He was employed as a construction worker with Local 265, where he served as a union representative, a very active board member and he retired as a laborer. He was also very active in his community and always wanted to know what the Cincinnati City Council was doing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Francis & Andrew Sr. The sun set for him on September 22, 2014. Sam leaves his memory to be cherished by: children, Andrew, Sandra, Sam Jr. (Sami Ali), Shirley, Darryle, Cathy, Norma, Eric, Brian & Samson Jackson, Sarah Anne McIntosh, Nakia Frye-Thomas & Andre'; six siblings, Irene Forte, Lucy, Hattie, Fannie, Lottie & John Paige; 34 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Southern Baptist Church. For additional information call 513-251-6200.
