Sally James was born on December 1, 1937 in Livingston, Ala., to the union of Gabe Harris and Susan Harris. 4 th child of 5 siblings and the only girl. Sally went home to be with the Lord on August 11, 2026, at 8:14am at Mercy West.

She was united in marriage to Albert James April 22, 1957 and out of this union 9 children were born. 4 brothers preceded her in death.

She confessed Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Church of Livingston Alabama. She united with the Second Trinity Baptist Church, March 1, 1981 under the leadership of Rev. D. W. Moore.

She was very active in her church: Senior Usher Ministry and the Hospitality Ministry. She was the Mother of the Church and also held the distinction as the oldest member of the church. The Hospitality Ministry honored her with a “This is Your Life” presentation. Above all, Sally was a woman devoted to Christ,

devoted to her church, and her relationship with God was an important part of her life. She found strength, comfort, and hope in the Lord, and her devotion was an example to those around her.

Sally James was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and great-great-great grandmother. To her family, Sally was royalty. She was the treasured matriarch whose presence brought strength, warmth, and a sense of togetherness to those around her. She held a special place in the hearts of her family and friends will forever be honored, cherished, and remembered.

She had a smile that could brighten any room. Her smile, laughter, and joyful spirit had a way of making people feel welcome and loved. She had a beautiful love for music and dancing, and she know how to enjoy the moment. She was also a wonderful cook and the meals she prepared brought people together.

She created memories that will be treasured for generations. Her love, wisdom, laughter, dancing, cooking, and presence will continue to live on through her family.

Sally was preceded in death by her mother and father, Susie and Gabe Harris; husband, Albert James; daughters, Susie and Joy; and sons Ronald and David. She leaves to cherish her memories: 1 son, Porter James; 4 daughters Trudy Oglesby (Clarence), Melanie James, Mattie James-Benton (Kevin) and Merry James, all of Cincinnati, Ohio. 37 Grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Although her passing left an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, we find comfort knowing that Sally is now resting peacefully with the Lord she loved and served. We can only imagine her reunited with the loved ones who went before her and being surrounded by God’s everlasting love. Sally leaves behind a beautiful legacy. Her life was a blessing, her memory is a treasure, and her presence will forever be missed.

Rest peacefully, like the beautiful butterfly you are. Spread your wings and soar freely into the beautiful blue skies. Watch over us and remind us that your love is always near. May you forever sing and dance in the presence of the Lord, free from pain and surrounded by everlasting love. Long live the queen.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Second Trinity Baptist Church, 911 Nassau Street, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
