Watson-Jones
May 24, 1931 – August 27, 2025
Ruby Watson-Jones was born May 24, 1931. She transitioned from earth to heaven on August 27, 2025, at the tender age of 94. Truly a life well lived. Ruby, was born in Perry, Georgia to late Willis and Hattie Hogan.
Ruby-Watson-Jones came to Cincinnati at age 29 with her husband Milton Davis and from this union there were 4 children born. Milton Davis Sr., (Toni) Sharon Davis, Ruby Davis-Salter (Darnell), and Terri Thorpe who preceded in death. Sister Ruby was a believer in Christ and always ready to lend a helping hand. Ruby was always ready to lend a helping hand. Ruby later would unite with Starlite Baptist Church where she would meet and later marry Arthur Watson while at Starlite, she served in the choir and the Deaconess Ministry.
In 2004, Ruby would marry Pastor Ralph Jones Sr. Pastor of Greater Golden Gate Baptist Church. In addition to serving as First Lady, she also served on the Mother's Board and sang with the Pastoral Choir. She loved to sing and would always sing the hymns of the church. She sang with various groups and on in particular that she loved to sing with was the Watsonettes comprised of kids and grandkids. She belonged to organizations Ministers Wives and Ministers Widow Auxiliary, Federation for Colored and Eastern Stars. Mother Ruby united in fellowship with Christ Memorial and remained a loving mother of this church even unto her transition.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willis Hogan and Hattie Mae Hogan, daughter Terri Thorpe, 4 sisters Christine Hogan-Coley, Rosemary Hogan Thorpe, Mary lizzie Hogan-Rozier, Annie Frances Hogan-Rozier, 2 brothers Arthur Hogan and Willie Hogan, Sister-in-law Minnie Wright, and grandson Aurice Powell.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her 2 sisters-in-law Lucilli Davis and Alice Fairbanks-Davis, her children Valerie Burton, Demetrius (Dorinda) Watson, Nadine (Tulani) Rufaro, Yochebed (Michael), Allen (Yahsede) Watson, Arron Watson, Imanuel (Yabne'el) Yisreal, Yacob (Vanessa) Yisreal, grandchildren Talesia Thorpe, Tasha Thorpe, Michael Davis Sr. Joshua Thorpe, Maedrann Broyles, Tanisha Thorpe, Marsineo David, Milton Davis, and Ashley Davis, and a host of great-grandchildren, niece and nephews other family friends.
Visitation is from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 1721 Dale Road, Cincinnati (45237). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
