McDaniel was born in Wetumpka, Alabama. She was the fifth of seven siblings born to Eugene Golden, Sr. (deceased) and Pinkie Mae Scott (deceased). She received her education from the University of Akron and Akron Public Schools. Ruby moved to Cincinnati, Ohio after high school graduation. Ruby accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior as a young adult and was a member of First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills for over fifty years, serving in the following capacities; President of Clara Penn Missionary Circle, Member of the Gospel Chorus, Member of Women's Sunday School Class, Bulletin Board Ministry, and other various church activities. She retired after twenty years from Lazarus Department Stores as a supervisor in retail sales. Ruby was a servant in every sense of the word and worked at Family Dollar Stores well into her seventies. Ruby was known as a straight shooter and often times would have a smile and a kind word to cheer you up. People confided in her and once you became her friend you were her friend for life. Ruby had no problem speaking her mind, giving hard, frank, and sound counsel around the issues of life. In her endeavors, servant hood and excellence were her guiding principles. Ruby was honored by an official City of Cincinnati Proclamation by former Mayor Mark Mallory, designating Saturday, October 24, 2009 as 'Ruby J. McDaniel Day' in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her Prince Hall Masonic affiliations also speak to the level of her leadership and servitude: Member of Elisha Chapter No. 89, Order of Eastern Star; Mother Advisor of Sheba Girls Assembly N0. 34, and Past State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler Order of the Golden Circle for the State of Ohio. Ruby was the widow of Stanley L. Waller and Prince McDaniel. She leaves to celebrate her life, seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of wonderful nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
