IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald William
Thompson Jr.
January 29, 1941 – January 13, 2015
Ronald William Thompson, Jr. (Ronnie) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 29, 1941 to the union of James and Myrtle Thompson. He departed this life on January 13, 2015. In the 1960's his mother, Myrtle Thompson (with six children), married James Stripling (with six sons: Joe, Luther, Howard, Billy, Kenneth and Robert), and they became one big happy family. Ronnie was a long-time member of St. Joseph Parrish and an active member of the choir. He was a faithful member to the Knights of Columbus Organization, earning his 4th degree rank. The "Baby," as he was so dearly called, earned his 1st degree Black Belt in Karate (NBBKAF). He worked as a tailor at Gentry's Shop for many years. He loved music and loved going through his repertoire of songs to play on the piano. He was very active in the community being a father to some of the children who didn't have fathers. He celebrated their birthdays and gave them gifts during the holidays. He loved the West End; he always said he was a "West Endies' baby. Ronnie was preceded in death by his brothers, James Jr., Wilbur Joe, and Vondie Andrews; sisters, Norma Jean and Carolyn Dean. He leaves to cherish his memory: one brother, Joe Stripling; sisters, Barbara "Bobby" Thompson, Paulette Thompson, and Yvette Thompson; cousin, Sharmella N. Johnson; longtime companion Deena Thompson; children, Vincent Joy, Angela Thompson, Ronald Thompson, Jr., Melissa Thompson, and Denee Thompson; two grandchildren, Arthur Milton Porter Ponder, and Ronald Thompson III, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 745 Ezzard Charles Drive, Cincinnati (45203) with visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment at Spring Grove Cemetery. Final arrangements entrusted to Walker Funeral Home, 1025 E. McMillan Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. Call 513.251.6200 for additional information.
