onald Nathaniel Harris also known as Robin by his family was born October 9, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Glady's and Cephus Harris. Ronald was the third oldest child. Ronald departed this life on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, after a long battle with cancer, he was surrounded by his wife Elizabeth and brother Keith at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash.
Ronald attended Sands Elementary School and Hughes High School. He graduated from Hughes High School in 1977. Ronald played basketball and boxed during his younger years. He also became a semi-pro boxer for several years.
Ronald accepted Christ at a young age at St. Marks Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Douglas Bass. He attended St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church until the passing of his parents. He then attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, usher and sang in the male choir. He also headed up the sick and shut-in ministry. Ronald and his wife Elizabeth, along each other Deacons and Deaconess would bring communion, encouragement, laughter, and companionship to those unable to attend church.
Ronald worked several jobs but the one he enjoyed the most was Children's Hospital. He worked in the occupational therapy department. He enjoyed helping the children and mentoring to them. He eventually build up enough trusted with the children and their families were he was able to bring them home with him on the weekends and holidays. He eventually retired after several years of services but, not before receiving the "Third Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award."
Ronald and Elizabeth had been together for 15 Years. Officially united in holy matrimony on October 6, 2017. They were seen side by side helping church members, neighbors, family, and friends. Ronald was a devoted husband, father, friend, and brother, he loved his family. He enjoyed cooking especially his collard greens and cabbage. He also enjoyed tending his garden and teaching his grandchildren life lessons. He enjoyed dirt and rocks and anyone who knew him would understand what that was about. Ronald was a country boy at heart and loved serving the Lord and caring for his family. He never met a stranger, having the gift of gab, he would make conversation with anyone who would listen, he said he loved words. Ronald enjoyed bringing laughter to all he met.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 12 noon, on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 26 W North Bend Road, Cincinnati (45216). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12 noon.
Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
