Ronald Dean Howell was born on November 22, 1943 to Letha (Skaggs) and Ernist Howell, who preceded him in death. Ronald attended school in Chicago, Illinois until he moved to Cincinnati in the early 50s. He was the second oldest of four. Two sisters Almeta Larry and Joyce Randall who preceded him in death and one brother, Ricky Skaggs. Ronald loved to sing, dance but most of all he loved to play the drums. Ronald was united in marriage in 1961 to Diane Lyons. To this union was two sons and one daughter. He played with various local bands in the TriState. He worked with such great artists as Catfish Collins, Lovejoys, Holidays, James Brown, Righteous Sisters, and many more. He also played for his church home, trying not to get too funky with it. But to sum it up, Ronald just lived for the music. He was a legend and will be missed by so many. On June 6, 2015, he departed this life for a better one, leaving to cherish his memory his spouse Diane Howell one brother, Ricky Skaggs; one daughter Charisse Howell; three sons, Ronald Dean Howell, Jr., Jeffery Howell and Paul James; fourteen grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren: and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very close friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Mt. Healthy Chapel, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, 45231 on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
