Obituary

Ronald Evans was born on August 28, 1947 to the late Watson Evans of Montgomery, AL and Ollie Lucille Nared of Nashville, TN. Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffrey Nared and Calvin Evans. Ron made his transition from this life to eternal life with the Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the age of 67. Ron was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Central High School in 1965. The same year he met his wife, Glenda, of 24 years whom he lovingly referred to as his 'church girl' and the 'right one' for him. They remained strongly connected until the end. After graduation from Central High School, Ron joined the United States Air Force. Airman First Class Ronald Evans' duty included air battles over Vietnam during the war. After his discharge, he returned to Cincinnati and he worked for a short period of time for the Cincinnati Milling Machine Company. Later he began a 45 year career with Cincinnati Bell Telephone, starting as a telephone installer and then working his way up the ladder in various positions. Ron retired in 2008, but stayed on with Cincinnati Bell as a retired employee. Ron was always noted as a GOOD worker...a hard worker! Ron worked diligently in whatever he set his hands to do. Ron owned a group home, The Ruth Manor, and owned several properties in the Cincinnati area. Ron was also a songwriter, a singer, a musician, an artist. He possessed many skills, abilities and talents. Ron's skills included carpentry, plumbing, and remodeling homes. He built his kids' beds, custom made furniture, built life-like doll houses for his daughter and granddaughter. He was planning to build another doll house for his youngest granddaughter. Ron was a very devoted father and grandfather. The love he had for his family was exceptional...only God was above them. Christmas was very special for him and his children, as he could load a U-haul to bring all the things he had purchased and/or made for them. They anxiously awaited 'Papa's' arrival! He always put himself last, did not want anyone to fuss over him or worry about him. He never complained and was always supportive and self-sufficient. Ron faithfully attended Greater Community Church, where his son, Ronald Evans, Jr. is Pastor. He was the single greatest financial donor to the ministry. He had located a building he thought would be suitable for the church's mission and was working toward making the purchase a reality. Ron loved the Lord. On the last day of his life, he was very joyful at what God had done for him and strongly testified of God's goodness. This wonderful man will be sorely missed. He touched so many lives. He was a giant among his family, friends and co-workers. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory: his mother, Ollie Nared; his children, Ronald Evans (Candra), Tamara Evans, Bryan Evans (Bella); his grandchildren, Leah Evans and Xolani Evans, and Glenda Evans; his siblings, Helen Christian, Bobby Hargrove (Gwen), Betty Smith (Greeley), Michael Evans (Joanne), Diane Akins, Yvonne Evans, Deborah Christopher, Paula Nared, Dwight Nared (Brenda), Paul Anthony Nared (Tasha), Sheila Nared), Fabian Nared and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church, 3771 Reading Road, Cincinnati (45229) with visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
