Obituary

Rodean Frazier Sr, son of the late Adolph, Sr and Ossie Mae Frazier was born on November 13, 1939 in Benham, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Twala Dean, Regina Huff, Rosalind Marshall and Joyce Harper. Due to a disabling accident of his father, Rodean and his family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1948, where He grew up in the communities of Mt. Auburn and Evanston. Rodean was educated in the Cincinnati Public School and graduated from Hughes High School in 1957 and later went on to attend the University of Cincinnati. Rodean met Beverly in 1957 and they were united in marriage in 1959. This union was blessed with four children, Rodean, Jr (Poo), Antonia (Mimi), Adreannia (Andi) and Brian (Bam). Together the couple raised their children in the communities of Silverton and later North Avondale. Rodean and Beverly many times open their hearts and home, allowing the friends of their children and cousins to move right in and become part of the family. Rodean accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Auburn. He worshiped with and built many lasting relationships with his Mt. Auburn family. He attended Southern Baptist and recently, Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist. He enjoyed attending church with his son Brian and son Rodean any Sunday he was in town. Rodean enjoyed sports as a youth and played organized football. As an adult, he fell in love with tennis and played daily. He enjoyed the competition and built lasting friendships with dear friends Elmer Swan, Morris Pipkins, Todd, Larry, Vaughn and many others. As his health declined, so many of his tennis partners would just come by to take him to the courts to just let him "hit". And, when he had to stay away from the courts, he enjoyed watching the matches on TV with his phone tennis buddy Delilah. Rodean was blessed with a strong work ethics and an even stronger entrepreneurial spirit. He was a man who took great pride in providing needs and wants of his wife and kids. He worked for the Veterans Hospital and then worked as a Cincinnati Metro bus driver. He entered the corporate world working for the US Shoe Company, where he met longtime mentor Robert (Bob) Stern and forever friend Roger Ach. His entrepreneurial spirit took over and he left US Shoe to launch his own business, introducing Frazier Soul Food and then the Frazier Blow-Out Comb; working with his brother Adolph Frazier, Walter (Walt) Maupin, Morris Pipkins and the late Herschel Reip to give everyone and anyone the opportunity to have that great Afro! Later, he entered the construction business launching the Serengeti Construction Company. He became the owner of a strong minority-owned construction business in a very short time. Negotiating and winning major bids to do work in the Tri-State area. Rodean was a world traveler and enjoyed learning and experiencing different cultures. His favorite trips were to Hong Kong and Africa. He loved working in his yard and later growing and tending to his vegetable garden. He loved having his kids, grandkids, family and friends at the house for any and all occasions. Rodean's greatest expectation was for his children to love our Mother and to love and care for each other, no matter the circumstance, no matter the need and that we would always and forever be family. We honor and celebrate his life, his teachings, his gifts and his love. He has left us in body, but he will be forever with us. Together we mourn his precious memories; Wife, Beverly Frazier, children, Rodean Frazier, Jr (Pamela), Antonia Jones, Adreannia Frazier, Brian Frazier, Special Daughter, Mary Jo Williams (Barry) Grandchildren, Dionne Frazier, Eric Thatcher, Nandi Frazier, Brandon Frazier, Brian Frazier, Jr, Shane Jones, Great Grandchildren, Ardell Barkley and Eli Thatcher, brother, Adolph Frazier (Judy) and sister Dolphine Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. And, countless friends who called and loved him as Pops and friends who called and loved him as a friend. Rodean Edwin Frazier, age 74, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, in , .
