Obituary

Robert Cornell Waite was born on Friday, September 21, 1945, along with his twin sister Barbara, to the late Reba Hudson Waite and Craig Waite, in Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky.

He attended Dunbar School and was a member of the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church along with his family. His mother, Reba, was respected as an active leader in both the church and the community.

He enlisted in the United States Army at the tender age of 17 years old, completing 3 years of service. He received an Honorable Discharge.

He met and married Yvonne Parris in Monticello, Kentucky, in the 19601s. They moved to Lexington, KY, and then to Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon their union, 2 beautiful daughters were born, Pamela and Bobbie.

He met the love of his life, Nina Satterwhite, in the 1980s, and they were married in 1985. He became a stepfather to her 4 children: Pamela Beeson, Hosea Satterwhite, Ricky Watson, and Bridgette Terry.

He united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church - Glendale, and later became an Ordained Deacon there. He loved the Lord and wanted to know more about Him. He enjoyed reaching out to others to share the "Good News", to study with, and he often quoted scriptures to open up a discussion about the Bible.

He was an active member of the Mt. Zion Male Chorus. He was the Founder of the 8-member Gospel singing group, "The Gospel Wonders", who performed at many church celebrations around Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was a Registered Agent with RONA Construction Company. Later, he became the owner of Waite Construction Company, LLC. In 2001, He was honored to receive the Pinnacle Award for the "Fastest Growing Minority Owned & Operated Business".

He enjoyed traveling. But most of all, hosting get-togethers at his home with friends and family, which brought him JOY! He never forgot the love of his hometown of Somerset, KY. He often sponsored the Family Reunions there and in Ohio, to reunite his family generations, which was so special to him.

Deacon Robert C. Waite passed away peacefully at his home after an extended illness on July 4, 2025, at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his 5 siblings, Nathaniel Garrett, Marietta Garrett, Lucien Garrett, Jacqueline Garrett, and twin sister Barbara Waite.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy to his devoted wife Nina; 2 daughters, Bobbie (Jeremiah) Waite Foster and Pamela (Oscar) Childs; 4 stepchildren, 1 sister in-law, grandchildren, and a host of special extended family and friends.

He will be missed within our hearts, but we have JOY in knowing that he is in Heaven reaping his just rewards!
