IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Smith,
Jr.
October 10, 1933 – March 16, 2025
Robert Smith Jr. was born October 10, 1933 in Newbern, Alabama to the late R. L. and Ida Smith. He gained his wings and went to his forever home on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Mary AME Church in Newbern Alabama.
Preceding him in death are his father and mother; his wife of 65 years Lizzie Nelson (nee Johnson) Smith, one daughter Barbara Ann (nee Smith) Bain; one grand daughter Marquita Arnice Spikes; four brothers R.L. Johnny, Richard and Billy James Smith; three sisters, Lizzie Carr, Patricia Ann Smith and Willie Lee Brooks.
In 1959 he joined in Holy Matrimony on December 19th, in the state of Alabama, Lizzie Nelson Johnson and they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. From this union, five children were born.
Robert Smith Jr. was a very proud man and worked extremely hard to provide and care for his family. He was a jokester and enjoyed a good laugh. He was a man of few words and always said whatever came to his mind as well as the truth. Some of his favorite foods were chicken feet, pig feet, pig tails and pig ears. He also loved his 'Budweiser' cold and from a can. Prior to his passing, Robert Smith Jr. was the oldest living member of the Dunn/Smith family.
He leaves to cherish his memory; three loving sons Jerome, Robert and David Smith and one loving and devoted daughter Arnice Smith whom he referred to as 'Ne-say' , the Boss or Baby Daughter all of whom are in Cincinnati, OH; five sisters Sarah Sanders, of Covington, GA; Mary Louise Lee, Barbara Ann Brown, Janie Mims and Bertha Mae Speed all of Tuscaloosa, Ala. two additional daughters Algusta Davis of Cleveland, OH and Betty Rhodes of Sawyerville, Ala; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four sisters in law Catherine Adams, Margaret Brooks, Lillie Bell Johnson of Cincinnati, OH; and Angie Stewart of Montgomery, Ala. and a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Zion Global Ministries, 9180 Cincinnati Columbus Road, West Chester (45069). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery.
