Obituary

Robert Leonardo Williams was born to the late Leon Williams, Sr., and Elsa Shaefe Williams (Logan) on September 20, 1947. On Monday, October 11, 2021, he departed this earthly life peacefully at Mt. Healthy Christian Home.

Robert was confirmed at an early age at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, in Cincinnati Ohio. He received his elementary and secondary education from Hoffman Elementary, Withrow University High School, and Roger Bacon High School. Robert was active in sports in school and was an avid baseball and football player until he was injured while playing in a major game. He also loved boxing and won several matches while competing for The Friars Club and The Golden Gloves of Cincinnati. Known as the "community mechanic" and "auto enthusiast," he was considered the go-to guy for anyone in the neighborhood who needed quick and quality auto repairs.  He loved cars so much that he tried his hands at car racing for a stint of time.

Robert married his late wife Helena Lee Williams, and to this union, one son Roberto Leonardo Sanpisco Williams, was born.  He later united with Donna Joe Robinson, to whom a second son was born, Chico Robinson, Sr., and a son-in-love Thomas "Joe" Davenport. Robert loved his sons and valued their independence. They spent countless hours together cracking jokes and talking about life.  He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and was a frequent go-to for babysitting and after-school pickup runs. He considered it his responsibility to teach them how to tie their shoes and ride bikes, one of his favorite pastimes.  Being of second-generation West Indian descent, he regularly boasted about having the best chicken curry recipe in the family.

Being raised by entrepreneurial parents, Robert decided early on that he would stay the course. In addition to serving as the Assistant Administrator for the family's two nursing homes, Riverview Nursing home in Cleves, Ohio, Alaska Rest Home in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Operations Manager for Crosstown Tavern located in Millvale. His proudest moment was opening the Clark Gas and Service Station in Dayton, Ohio.

Robert was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Helena Williams, and brother Jerome Williams.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his sons Roberto L.S. Williams (Rachel), Cincinnati, Ohio, Chico Robinson (Melissa), Fairfield, Ohio, and Thomas "Joe" Davenport (Kertrice), Lexington, Kentucky; his grandchildren Xavier C. Williams, Nya Iman Williams, Chico Robinson, Jr.,  Collin Robinson, Juwan Hawkins, Preston Davenport, Jackson Davenport, Dillon Davenport, and great-grandson Tylen Robinson. Also sharing in his tribute are his siblings Lois Alston Davis, Leon "June" Williams (Carla), and Barbaranne Hill-Irving., his Aunts Rosetta Williams, Mary Alice Williams, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition, he leaves to mourn two special friends Donna M. Jenkins and Joe Turner, whom he has known since childhood.
