He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Robert was one of four children, Zella Harris (Anthony), Catherine Gooden (Watkins). He was preceded in death by parents, and his younger sister, Wanda Gooden (Woolfork). Reserved and quiet Robert was, however, he was also very sociable. He loved to be around people. Playing cards, sports, music, and cooking, were some of his most favorite things to do. He was a debater and thinker, and often you would see him thinking. He had a funny smirk that prepared you for a good laugh. Truly, Robert was a humorous individual and fun to be around; he would keep you entertained. It has been said by many that Robert was a good friend. In 2007, Robert retired as a machine operator from Acoust-a-Fiber. In June of 2011, Robert believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and was saved; and in July he was baptized. He became a member of Present Truth Worship Center and dedicated himself to God. He fed his hunger for God by studying the word, going to church, and talking to those he knew, about God. He was happy to serve in the cleaning ministry. Robert trusted God to the very end. He fought a good fight, and God determined that it was time for him to come home. Robert left seven children to cherish his memory: Tyrone Gooden (Valencia), Robert C. Gooden, Leslie Phillips (Robert), Leah Gooden, Morgan Gooden, Reuben Gooden, and Baracca Gooden, 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, family and friends whom he loved so very much.
