Obituary

Robert Lee Gooch was born on March 17, 1928 in Stanford KY to the late Samuel H Gooch and Ethel (Alcorn) Gooch. Robert was called to Glory on Saturday, November 10, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He fought a valiant fight. Robert was the oldest of six children-jive boys and one girl. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Upon moving to Cincinnati in the 1940 's, Robert Gooch united with Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L R Mitchell at the 947 Clark Street location, joined in 1944. He attended faithfully until his illness prevented him from attending Robert was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 68 years and held the following positions: the Sunday School Superintendent for the Youth Department, Boy Scout Leader, participated in Baptist Training Union and Sunday School, sang in the Male Chorus and the Senior Choir, bowled in the Church's Bowling League; and performed maintenance of the church vans and buses. Robert and Mary Helen Pleasant were married on August 17, 1945 and one child was born to this union, Bobbie. He was a hard worker but his favorite past times were fishing, bowling and using his mechanical knowledge to repair cars. He served in the United States Army before his employment at Merchant Creamer. Robert was employed for 27 years at Yellow Freight Line as a tractor trailer driver, where he retired. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ethel Gooch and his brother, Frank. He leaves to cherish his memory-a beloved and devoted wife, Mary Helen,• his loving daughter, Bobbie Hayes (Rev.
