IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Dehavilland
April 22, 1930 – January 6, 2025
Bob DeHavilland, age 94 of Cincinnati Ohio passed away Monday, January 6th at his home in hospice.
Bob was born in Minneapolis MN, the son of Verner Paul Johnson and Elenora Putnam (Dowkontt), both medical professionals. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Journalism. Bob met his bride, Virginia Carlson, an x-ray technician, while working in hospital admissions. He worked most of his career in advertising, winning a Clio award, and was a lifelong writer of novels, newsletters and Haiku poetry. His favorite word was 'Relish'. Bob loved experiencing other cultures and traveled throughout South America, Mexico, Canada, England, Italy, Russia, Finland and India. He was a cancer survivor who turned into a cat lover appreciating the small things, naming the tree outside his window Sinatra, "I did it my way."
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, and brother George Johnson. Bob is survived by two daughters, Annette De Havilland, Columbus Ohio, and Lesley Longstaff, Williamsburg Kansas, and a granddaughter Bailey Longstaff, Topeka Kansas.
Bob believed in living in a mode of gratitude, and as a final act of service he donated his body to science. The family will hold a private service.
