Rita Jean Dodd was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 17, 1935 to the late John and Ardell (Thompson) Henderson. She was the ninth of ten children.
Rita was baptized at an early age at the Revelation Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G.W.Sangster. In 1954, Rita graduated from Old Woodward High School. After graduating high school, Rita started her career at Ziegler as an Office Manager, this is where she gained her keen business acumen to start her own bookkeeping business "Louis Bookkeeping and Tax Service", while also working at Ford Motor Credit Company. In 1973, Rita gained employment with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development where she retired in 1994 after 21 years of exemplary service. In her spare time, Rita enjoyed fishing, traveling, trying her luck at the casino, discussing politics and spending time with her family!
She passed away on March 25, 2024.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, beloved son Michael Louis and 5 brothers Glenn, Sam, John Jr., Eddie (Dick) and Robert (Bob) Henderson and 3 sisters Marion (Stonehill) Vivian (Riddle) Irrilla {Red} (Myers).
She leaves behind not to mourn but to cherish her memory: her devoted children; Anthony (Tony) Louis and Teresa (Terrie) Ann Louis. Affectionately called "Granny", Rita is also survived by her 4 loving grandchildren: Anthony (Landell) Johnson, Terece Standford, Kristen Louis Harshaw (Wesley Harshaw), Tonia Louis, and Olivia Diann Louis, 3 great grandchildren: Mikayla Coburn, Terez Coburn and Kade Harshaw and 2 great great grandchildren: twins Ah'jhani Rose and Jakari Grey Coburn, sister-in-law, Thelma Henderson.
