Richard L. Hankerson, age 79, of Cincinnati, passed away May 30, 2013. He was born December 31, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the Blessed Union of Oscar Hankerson Sr and Lena Hankerson. Richard had two daughters that preceded him in death, Charlene Hadnot and Carolyn Smith Ballard. Richard served in the U. S. Armed Forces. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and friend. Although he had a tough exterior, he was a kind and gentle man, especially to his grandchildren. He had nicknames for everybody and he never met a stranger. He was known as a stylish dresser and always had his signature toothpick. He leaves to cherish his memory and to Celebrate his Homegoing, his life-partner and best friend, Fannie Smith; son, Mark Smith; daughters, Jacqueline McPherson and her husband, Alfonso Sr., Jennifer Williams and her husband, Johnny, and Beverly Smith; eighteen grandchildren, Greg Smith, Antonio Smith, Richardo Smith, Christopher Smith, Dawnele Dukes, Alfonso McPherson Jr., Terrel Dukes, Latosha Smith, Marcus Smith, Kimberly Smith, Adrienne Jones, Michele McPheeson, Janell McPhereson, Ebony Bush, Lottie Bush, Justin Bush; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jariyah, Felicia, Alicia, Sir Elliott, Te'aire, Heaven Lee, Bishop Isaiah Jr., Lyanan, Ina, Jayiah, Franklin, Lamarion, Dezia, Ivan; one special niece, Norma Jean Hadnot; one nephew, Raymond McDonald; two great-nephews, Vincent Hadnot and Leonard Hadnot; two special friends, Todd Evans and Emanuel Springs; a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6 at Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 1025 E.
