In Loving Memory of Rhonda Sue Napier

December 27, 1965 – June 18, 2026

Rhonda Sue Napier, affectionately known as “Sue,” peacefully transitioned from this life on June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late James Wallace Baker and Virginia Lee Baker (Redd), Rhonda was the third of four daughters and brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew her.

Rhonda attended Rockdale Elementary School and graduated from the CAMAS Program at Woodward High School in 1984. Known for her love of dance, she could master any routine and proudly performed as a young flagadette. She formed many lifelong friendships, including a cherished bond with her best friend and sister-at-heart, Paula Harris, who preceded her in death.

Throughout her life, Rhonda wore many hats, working as a concession worker, school bus driver, environmental services supervisor, and healthcare professional. It was in healthcare that her nurturing spirit truly shined. She served as an ACT on B North PCU and later as a Health Unit Coordinator on the Mom-Baby Unit, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion.

Rhonda had a special gift with children and babies, offering comfort, love, and reassurance wherever she went. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and beloved little cousin, Rylin. She loved dancing, family gatherings, trips to the casino, and creating lasting memories with those she loved.

In November 2024, Rhonda was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. She faced every challenge with grace, faith, determination, and courage. Even after the cancer returned and spread to her lungs and liver, she continued to fight with remarkable strength and unwavering trust in God which she strengthened through fellowship at New Prospect Baptist Church.

Though cancer affected her body, it never touched her spirit. Rhonda’s faith remained steadfast, her love never wavered, and her light continued to shine. She is now free from pain, resting peacefully in the presence of the Father.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, James Wallace Baker and Virginia Lee Baker (Redd); her sister, Lora Lee Baker; and her beloved best friend, Paula Harris.

She leaves to cherish her memory Jeffrey Napier, with whom she shared many years and a family she deeply loved; her children, Barbara, Vanessa, Jeffrey, Cimerica, and bonus daughter Erica; her grandchildren, Jayden, Allasha, Micaiah, Zae’Mar, Lawrence III, Audryeanna, Sean, Cymphony, Daniel, Donovan, and Ja’Shawn; her sisters, Norita Baker and Micaiah Yhisrael (Merrie); aunts Wanda Reese (Curtis), Mary Lou Childs, and Janie Coleman; uncle James Redd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Rhonda’s legacy of love, faith, laughter, strength, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will remain a guiding light for generations to come.
