April 21, 1928 – January 22, 2016
TO VIEW / PRINT / DOWNLOAD FUNERAL PROGRAM https://www.scribd.com/doc/296835462/Reginald-Head-Funeral-Program A LIFETIME OF SERVICE A REMEMBRANCE OF REGINALD HEAD Reginald Marvin Head answered his Lord's call home on January 22, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born in Queens, New York, April 21, 1928, to Joseph D. and Grace M. Head. His family later moved to Cincinnati, and Reggie, as everyone called him, grew up in and around Lockland. After an education I public schools, Reggie graduated with pride from the Nashville Christian Institute. He was an equally proud alumnus of Alcorn State University, which inducted him into its Hall of Honors in 1995. Upon leaving Alcorn State, Reggie joined in the United States Army, where he served in the Military Medical Corps, teaching anatomy and physiology until his Honorable Discharge. Upon his return to civilian life, Reggie went to work at the General Electric Large Jet Engine Division Business Group, until he retired after 36 years. Reggie was a devoted servant of the Lord, beginning with his baptism as a teenager. He put his faith and obedience in action, serving for several decades as the treasurer and a trustee first at the Beecher Street Church of Christ, and then later at the Gray Road Church of Christ. His service extended beyond Cincinnati as a member of the Executive Board, and the promotional chair of the J. S. Winston Foundation, which provides scholarship support to ministerial students. He was also a vocal and financial supporter of Southwestern Christian College. Reginald Head was very active in serving the Cincinnati community, through his involvement with the Black Male Coalition, AARP, The Knights of Pythias, The National Black Alcoholism Council, the Cincinnati Reach Back Program and the American Legion, to name a few. Known to be bold, Reggie took the occasion of a presidential visit to share his views of the impact of drugs on the Cincinnati community with President George H. W. Bush. And he used his state license as dependency professional to help divert people from a life of addiction. But second to his love of the Lord, was Reggie's love for his family and friends. His wife, Murphy, who preceded him in death, was the love of his life. He is survived by his Granddaughter, Kim, and 5 other grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; numerous cousins, including Freeman Wyche, a minister of the Gospel; and a host of god-children and friends won over a lifetime of service to the Lord and to mankind. Perhaps his favorite saying, uttered in good times and bad, best summarizes Reginald Head: "As we travel down the lane of time, we ask ourselves, How long? But God, with His everlasting grace, lets us know… Not long." Visitation is from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Gray Road Church of Christ, 4826 Gray Road, Cincinnati (45232). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow Crown Hill Memorial Gardens in Colerain Township, Ohio.
