Phyllis Green was born on November 13, 1941 to Fred Kirtley Sr. and Martha Lee "Mattie" Jones in Covington, Ky. She transitioned from this life on June 22, 2026 surrounded by close family.

She was raised and attended school at the Lincoln Grant in Covington, Ky. She was a very committed woman, she was married to her husband, Harold Green for 18 years, together they had 5 children. She started working at Rosedale Manor as a dietitian at a young age and stayed there until her retirement. She obtained this all while raising her children and grandchildren. After her divorce she met and fell in love with Howard Hines, and they stayed together until his death in 2014. She loved to travel, listen to music, being in her garden, planting flowers, spending time together with her family and friends, especially during her favorite holiday, Christmas. She absolutely loved watching wrestling every night it came on. "Jean" or "Aunt Sissy" as she was well known by, was well loved, so many looked to her for her wisdom, her guidance based on her life experiences, and most of all for her "telling it like it is" approach. Her spirit will truly be missed.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Fred Kirtley Sr. and Mattie Jones; her brothers, Florian Meeks Jr., Robert "Bobby" Meeks, Charles "Charlie" Kirtley, Donald "Donnie" Kirtley, Fred Kirtley Jr; her sisters, Annabelle "Sis" Meeks, Lula Mae "Skip" Jackson, Laura "Doll" Kirtley; her great granddaughter, Precious Floyd.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her memories to her beloved children: Micheal Green, Michelle Derkson, Debbie Green, Donna Moore, Carla Mullins; her grandchildren, Angel (Lorenzo) Floyd, Dejuan Green, Nicole Green, Lequita Green, Deshawn Green, Ieisha Green, Kaprice Green, Makiah Green, Dexter Lane, Marcus Lane, Diondre Lane, Jesse Green, Phyllis Green, Demarco Moore, Keyairow Green, Shamicheal Mullins; two special great granddaughters, Zatiya Green and Zantasha Green, as well as a host of other great grandchildren too numerous to name, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
