Phyllis J. Edwards July 4, 1954 - September 3, 2022

It is with sadness we announce the heavenly transition of Phyllis J. Edwards, age 68, of Middletown, Ohio.  Phyllis was born on July 4, 1954, in Hamilton, Ohio to the Late Clifford and Esther Sneed. On Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Majestic Nursing Home, God called Phyllis home from labor to reward her after an extended illness. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Phyllis graduated from Garfield Senior High School in 1972 in Hamilton. Phyllis stayed in the Hamilton area close to family and worked as an MRDD Manager with residents at Fairfield Center located in Fairfield, Ohio. In the midst of Phyllis's working years, she had two beautiful sons, Jamie and Damion Sneed. They both gave her a lot of joy in her life and it gave her a deeper appreciation of being a mother and raising little ones of her own.

Phyllis stayed in Hamilton and was satisfied and felt complete in raising her boy's close  Mom and Dad. Phyllis also spent a couple of years taking care of MRDD clients in her home for some time during her working years. It was much later in life that Phyllis went to work at Cincinnati Financial Insurance Company located in Fairfield, Ohio as an Imaging Manager.Phyllis was united in Holy Matrimony to Wayne Edwards on February 16, 2001, in Hamilton, Ohio. Wayne and Phyllis were married for 21 years. Phyllis enjoyed a simple life in Hamilton, she made her living here, loved her life here, and was comfortable with her life here. She enjoyed being surrounded by her husband, immediate family members, and other close family members in town.  She was not a world traveler to fancy and extravagant places, there was nothing pretentious, phony, or artificial about who she was. When you met Phyllis Jean, this is what you got!

Phyllis's leisure time consisted of enjoying her soap operas, and playing her games and her sons said that she was also a prankster. She became a good cook, like her mother, and enjoyed tasting good food from others, (especially our Aunt Lula Kimble). Phyllis enjoyed reading in her leisure time. She had a collection of historical books, and African American cookbooks and some were authored by black chefs.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Wayne Edwards; two sons, Jamie Sneed and Damion (Kim) Sneed; five grandchildren, Jhyraun DeMarcia, Raekwon Boyd, DaVaughn Sneed, Akira Sneed, and Isayah Sneed; one great-grandson, Naser Sneed; three sisters, Beatrice Davis, Las Vegas, NV., Denise (Tim) Taylor, Hamilton, OH, and Arnetta Johnson, Hamilton, OH; two brothers, Clifford (Alice) Sneed, Cincinnati, OH and Jeffrey (Missy) Sneed, DesMoines, IA; one uncle, Eugene (Evelyn) Sneed, Hamilton, Ohio; two aunts, Lula Kimble, Hamilton, OH, and Maggie Sneed, Niagara Falls, NY. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives, and dear close friends. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Esther Sneed, and sister, Queen Esther Trotter; two grandmothers, Queen Esther Trotter and Lillie B. Wilson; two aunts, Clara Grier and Irene Wilson; one uncle, Joseph Sneed, and one brother-in-law, Samuel Lee Davis.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Israel Baptist Church -  Hamilton, 701 S 7th Street, Hamilton  (45011).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park, 4570 Trenton Oxford Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
