Obituary

The Life and Legacy of Rev. Phillip Haugabook, Sr. Phillip Haugabok was born to the late William and Ethel Haugabook Sr. on July 28, 1939. He attended Cincinnati Public Schools: Morgan Elementary and Robert A. Taft High School where he graduated in 1957. Phillip also attended Cincinnati Bible College, Temple Bible College, the University of Cincinnati (Ohio College of Applied Science), he received his Bachelor of Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2012, at the age of 73. He began his employment history with the United States Postal Service at a young age, and a change in career, he was hired with General Motors on October 7, 1966, at the Norwood, Ohio plant. Reverend Haugabook and his wife Kimberly had the pleasure of working together at General Motors in Dayton, Ohio for ten years together, and he retired with 46.3 years of service with General Motors in November 2012. Being called to preach the gospel, he was ordained in January 1984 under the pastorship of Rev. T. I. Lane and Rev. Cecil Ferrel. His strong faith in God continued as he became as an associate minister under the pastorship of the late Reverend Dr. Guy Arnold of Bethel Baptist Church in Hamilton, oh on 9/8/ 1998, he also served under the pastorship here at Bethel under the late Reverend Michael Brown and current pastor Reverend James E. Wynn. Reverend Haugabook developed many friendships at Bethel and loved the membership, he served as a Sunday school teacher for the Mens Sunday school group, he was also a teacher for Wednesday evening Bible Study, he was a member of the Mens Ministry and was a teacher during Vacation Bible Study until October 2013. Phillip was united in marriage to Kimberly Hill in 1997, they loved traveling and working together while Phil served as a chaplain for the UAW (United Auto Workers), they also loved flying, and family travels. Phillip enjoyed a full life and participated in several activities such as: daily exercising with extensive cardiovascular workouts, walking, golfing, and was on an ameteur bowling leauge with friends from his neighborhood subdivision, he also loved gardening with his wife. Phil was well versed in the word of God and often used his wisdom to help encourage others as they faced life's challenges, he loved teaching the word as he knew that this was his gift, and studied his Bible daily. Phillip was well loved by his family and friends and well respected by the faith community, Phillip loved the Lord, his wife, and family, his church family, and general motors family, he always encouraged his wife and children to strive to be the best at whatever it was they did, but to have their relationship with God in order. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents: William and Ethel Haugabook Sr, his brothers: Ronald, Keith, Leon and Norman and his sister: Betty Calhoun. Phillip leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife Kimberly Hill-Haugabook, his children: Phillip Jr of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Peter of Michigan, Dr. Phyllis Haugabook–Penok (Eric) of Michigan, Patrice, Rashaad, and Chan'nel of Cincinnati, ten grandchildren and siblings: Geraldine, Geneva, Mattie, William, Nathaniel (Betty) and Reginald all of Cincinnati.
