Percy James Milton, Sr. was born on November 22, 1929, in Sardis, Dallas County, Alabama, the son of the late Rev. Arze Milton and Laura Bates Milton.

Raised in Cincinnati's West End, Percy attended Central Vocational High School before answering his nation's call to service. From 1951 to 1953, he served honorably in the United States Army as a Medical Aidman, spending much of his military service in Japan and Korea.

In September 1953, he married Pauline Washington, and their union was blessed with three children: Theresa Milton-Steels (Tyrone), Wanda Milton-Harris, and Percy J. Milton, Jr. (Cassandra). Pauline preceded him in death in 1980.

On July 1, 1962, Percy was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church. His faith became a guiding force throughout his life, shaping his commitment to family, service, and community.

In June 1982, he married Martha Hendricks Milton, becoming a devoted husband and loving stepfather to her three daughters: Judge Melba Marsh, Renee Robinson, and Lynette Darby (James). Martha preceded him in death in June 2011.

On March 28, 1986, Percy retired after thirty-three years of dedicated service as a Mail Handler with the United States Postal Service. Retirement, however, marked the beginning of an entirely new chapter.

Percy embraced retirement with enthusiasm, creativity, and boundless energy. Known throughout the community through his small business, "Newtoyou”. A lifelong lover of technology, Percy delighted in computers and electronic gadgets. His workshop hummed with printers, cameras, and computer equipment as he designed personalized greeting cards and calendars, created drawings and photographs, and delighted family, friends, church members, and his fellow bowlers with his unique masterpieces.

Percy also possessed an extraordinary ability to see value where others saw none. Whether repairing furniture, clothing, or small appliances, Percy found joy in restoring discarded items and giving them new life. Most often, the fruits of his labor were freely given away to family members, neighbors, and those in need. Generosity was simply part of who he was.

Above all else, Percy loved serving his church, St. Francis de Sales Parish. For decades, he faithfully served as an usher, warmly welcoming parishioners each Sunday and assisting with the counting of collections after Mass. He also served on the parish Trustee Board and was proud of his work on the Calvary Cemetery Committee. A dedicated supporter of the parish thrift store and numerous charitable causes, Percy lived his faith through service, generosity, and kindness.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, 1721 Duck Creek Road , Cincinnati, Ohio 45207.
