April 16, 1933 – November 24, 2014
Pecola Gallaher- Wise was born on April 16, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Mary Jerrels. To this union, three daughters were born Bernice, Pecola and Edwina. Pecola confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in downtown Cincinnati under the leadership of the late Reverend L. Venchael Booth. In 1948, Pecola was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willard Woodrow Gallaher. To this union three children were born, Glenn Gallaher, Garry Gallaher (Stephanie) and Michelle Brown (Anthony). She later married the late Deacon Leroy Wise. Pecola attended Woodward High School and later became a professional seamstress and avid healthcare worker. She was known to her friends and family as the 'Black Martha Stewart' and was lovingly called Grandma G by all her grandchildren. For everyone who knew her she was known for her stylish hats, delicious meals and amazing spirit. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, crafting and serving others. Pecola Gallaher- Wise was deeply loved by her family and leaves behind: her sister, Edwina Williams; two sons, Garry (Stephanie) and Glenn; a daughter Michelle (Anthony); six grandchildren; Kenneth Gallaher, Aszudee Gallaher, Whitney Gallaher, Wesley Gallaher, Lauren Flanigan and Phillip Flanigan; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
