Pearlie Mae McDonald was born on June 4, 1935 to the union of Dora Hicks-Brantley and Peter Safford of Selma, Alabama. Pearlie accepted Christ at a very young age and was a dedicated member at Macedonia Living Word Fellowship Baptist Church. Pearlie attended and graduated from RB Hudson High School and then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she joined in Holy Matrimony Randal McDonald Sr. who preceded her in death. To that union three children were born, Valerie, Regina, and Randall, Jr. Pearlie went on and began working for the Cincinnati Board of Education and retired after 25 years of service. Pearlie Mae was truly an angel who loved the Lord. A humble soul who was loving, caring, and was always willing to help whomever was in need. Pearlie loved to cook, dance, visit her sisters in Selma, and even at the age of 79, she had a lot of "Spunk". You could always find Pearl participating in her church functions, activities throughout the community, shopping at the thrift store and just hanging out with the family. She leaves to mourn her passing: two daughters, Valerie (Randy) Hobdy, and Regina Maddox (the late George P. Maddox); one son, Randall McDonald, Jr.; one brother, James Safford; four sisters, Dorothy Porter (preceded her in death), Dora Keith (Willie Keith), Mattie Phillips, and Mary Pettaway; seven grandchildren, Cedric, Dominic, George, Jasmine, Vanessa, Raymon, and Martez; five great-grandchildren, Neko, Aerris, Cedric, Jr., Ziarre, and Dillon, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
