IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pearlie Mae
Crowder
August 31, 1939 – October 24, 2025
Pearlie Mae "Pearl" Crowder was born on August 31, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the union of the late Elijah Britten and Dora Glass. She was the second-to-last child among her siblings.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husbands, Ivory Wooley and James Crowder; her parents, Elijah and Dora; her sisters, Delois Britten-Early, Christina Kernall, and Louise Anderson; her brothers, Elijah Britten Jr. and Isaiah Britten Sr.; her special niece, Sarah Shavers; and her special nephew, Leon Shavers Sr. She was also preceded in death by five nephews — James Robert Anderson, Robert Lee Anderson, Larry Anderson, Lee Anderson, and William Anderson — and five great-nephews: Eric Lewis, Timothy Canady Jr., John Prince Anderson, James Grant, and Alan Anderson.
Pearl accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Oyler (Sixth District) School and began working at Bethesda Oak Hospital in Cincinnati at the age of 18, where she remained until her retirement. Pearl was well known and deeply loved by her colleagues.
Pearl loved animals and, during her life, cared for one dog, Chico, and one cat, Jerry. She enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing, playing cards, and listening to her favorite music by Al Green and Otis Redding. Pearl was known for her bright smile, infectious laughter, love of dancing, and getting her hair done. She never mistreated anyone and was admired for her genuine, peaceful, and caring nature. She was always willing to help others, especially her family and close friends. Although she had no biological children, she lovingly served as a mother figure to multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
Pearl spent the last five years of her life at Terrace View Gardens Nursing and Retirement Community, where she formed meaningful friendships with both residents and staff. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her special nieces: Lillian Rainge, Sandra Kernall, Angela Redding, Rose Anderson, Brenda Anderson, and Sherry Kernall; and special nephews: Richard Anderson, Isaiah Britten Jr., and Curtis Kernall. She is also survived by special great-nieces: Brigette Lewis, Sheila Shavers, Angela Hobbs, Mary Shavers, Santina Kernall-Lampkin (Shawn), Sherrell Mallory, Dubrina Kernall, Latosha Dunn-Kelly (Robert), Latoia Dunn, Rashunna Mallory, Janea Jordan (John), Janeva Anderson, Keyana Anderson, La'Risha Anderson, Charlene Shavers, Iris Anthony, Danielle Shavers, Regina Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, Breaysha Anderson, and Renee "Tammy" Lewis; and great-nephews: James Lewis, Terry Early, Donald Shavers, Leon Shavers Jr., David Shavers, Larry Kernall, Michael Kernall, Emirous Kernall, Richard Rand, Brian Shavers, Andre Shavers, Clarence Mallory, Antonio Mallory, Gilbert Mallory, Kevin Lee, Demetrius "Homeboy" Jackson, and Andre Lawrence.
She also leaves behind an extended host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and dear friends. Pearl will be missed and loved forever.
