Shields, affectionately known as 'Pat', passed away May 24, 2011, at age 70. He was a retired painter and life-long resident of Cincinnati. An avid sports fan, Pat's passion was for the 'Big Red Machine' and the Bengals. He coached for many years in the area. He was a devoted fan and supported of his grandchildren's sporting activities. Pat could always be found at his grandchildren's events. Pat will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Born April 24, 1941, in Cincinnati, he was the son of the late William and Helen (nee Short) Shields. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved and devoted wife of fifty years, Lois (nee Otting) Shields; loving son, Doug Shields and his wife, Tracy; dear sister, Lorraine Lucas; brothers, Ron Otting and his wife, Rosemary; Greg Otting and his wife, Peggy; devoted grandchildren, Jake, Layne, Cooper, Reece, Corey, Cody and Joey; many nieces and nephews. His royal companion, Charlie, was always by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Shields; son, Danny Shields; sister, Jean Marie Slasor. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28 at Church of the Assumption, 7711 Joseph Street, Mt. Healthy (45231). Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, May 27 at Walker Funeral Home, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy (45231). Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lois (Otting); beloved sons, Doug (Tracy) and the late Danny (Shelley); devoted grandfather of Jake, Layne, Cooper, Reece, Corey, Cody and Joey; dear brother of Lorraine Lucas and the late Jean Marie Slasor. Also survived by brothers and sistersin-laws, Ron (Rosemary) Otting and Greg (Peggy) Otting. Also survived by nieces and nephews. His loyal companion, Charlie, was always by his side. Visitation 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday, May 27, at Walker Funeral Home, 7830 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Church of the Assumption, Mt. Healthy, at 10 am.
