IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ann
Gover
May 9, 1947 – October 4, 2024
After a long battle with her health, Patricia Ann Gover passed away on October 4, 2024. Patricia, affectionately known to family and friends as "Pat," "Tricia," or "Trish," was born on May 9, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Nina Mae and Charles Isome. She was the second oldest of four daughters born from this union. Today, we honor her memory and bid her farewell, carrying with us her quick wit, warmth, and unforgettable sassy spirit.
Patricia embraced her faith early in life, joining Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church in Walnut Hills. She later became a dedicated Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church member, where she worshipped for over forty years. Her faith in Christ guided her life, filling her with compassion and generosity. Patricia was a committed volunteer in the kitchen ministry at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, always willing to cook and serve meals for church events with a joyful heart. In addition to her work in the kitchen ministry, Patricia also served in the nurse's ministry, providing comfort and care to those in need. Her compassionate heart made her a natural in this role, where she was always ready to assist and extend a healing touch to her church family. She loved her Pilgrim family, and they loved her.
Patricia began her education at Douglas Elementary School, attended Samuel Ach Junior High, and graduated from Courter Technical High School. While she enjoyed her schooling, she was particularly drawn to the social aspect, loving to be around people and have fun. She had a gift for bringing people together and sharing in life's joys and laughter.
In her young adult years, Patricia found love with a high school sweetheart, Michael Emicles Gover Jr., and together, they had two children: her son, Michael Isome, and her daughter, Tina Isome, who preceded her in death. Recognizing that her high school friend was the love of her life, she married Michael (Mike) Gover, who also preceded her in death. He lovingly referred to her as his "Brown Sugar," a testament to their beautiful relationship. From this union, she acquired step-children who remained very close to her heart despite living in another city. She cherished the special bond they shared across the miles.
Patricia's career journey led her into healthcare and culinary arts. Her love for people inspired her to work as a nurse assistant in several nursing homes, providing compassionate care to her patients. With a passion for cooking, Patricia also spent many years in the cafeterias of the University of Cincinnati, Procter & Gamble, and Cincinnati Public Schools before retiring. Even after retiring, she often expressed that she would still be working if not for her physical limitations, as she truly loved serving others.
Patricia was more than a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, or aunt – she was a beloved friend to many. She cherished her friendships and enjoyed weekly Bingo games, where she often won a little something to bring home. Her friends frequently checked in on her, as she did with them, providing a warm and open home to all who visited. Patricia also loved gathering with family to play Pokeno, always with her quarters ready and her competitive spirit shining through. She loved spending time with family during holidays and at barbecue outings. Patricia had a spicy way of offering advice and guidance to her family and friends, always with love at its core. Though her words could sometimes be direct, they were spoken with a sincere and caring heart.
Patricia's son, Michael, expressed his love for her in countless ways, whether through their shared moments or how he showed he cared. His visits always brought her joy, and she treasured their bond, knowing that his love for her was steadfast and true.
Patricia's life exemplified resilience, compassion, tenacity, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She shared a close bond with her sisters, who stood by her side, supporting her through health challenges. Patricia's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an important part of her legacy. She carried them in her heart, hoping for their happiness and success. Her memory will remain a part of their lives as they carry forward her strength and resilience. Patricia always said "I love you" to her family, whether during a phone call or as they said their goodbyes in person.
Patricia was especially grateful for her granddaughter, Shawntina, and her youngest sister, Mari. Shawntina shared a deep, enduring bond with Patricia that could stand the test of time. Shawntina's kindness and sincerity were ever-present, and both Mari and Shawntina were dedicated to keeping the family informed about Patricia's health. Patricia regarded them as her Rock of Gibraltar, a steady source of support and strength. She deeply valued their compassionate care, thoughtfulness, and unwavering dedication, often expressing how their kindness and expertise brought her comfort and peace, knowing she was in such capable and loving hands.
She leaves a legacy of mental and emotional strength, fortitude, and courage. She never gave up until the Lord gently told her, "It's time to go home."
Patricia is preceded in death by her father, Charles; mother, Nina; husband, Mike; daughter, Tina; granddaughter, Martina; and one great-granddaughter, Trinity. She leaves to cherish her memories her three sisters: Brenda (James), Orda (Henry), and Dr. Mari (Dr. Robert); her son, Michael; her stepson, Miceles (Sherry), and Michael; stepdaughters Yvette, LaTonia, and Michelle; granddaughters Shawntina, Megan, Mikesha, Tiaina, Lakesha, and Aniya, Jalyn, grandsons Michael (Little Mike), Gene, Anthony ("Turkey"), Michel ("BoBo"), Diamonte, Antwan, Mikel, Chance, Bronx, Dawun, and Michel, her special friend, Jennifer Mangham, a close friend, Donnie Williams, Joanne Walters, and her birthday twin Rev. Bruce Malcom, along with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Today, as we celebrate Patricia's life, we hold dear the countless ways she touched our hearts. Her legacy of love, faith, and enduring spirit will remain with us forever. Rest peacefully, Patricia, knowing you are cherished and will always be deeply loved.
