Obituary

Owney Lee Dawson received her angel wings on October 16, 2020. Owney Lee Dawson  was born October 10, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Roscoe James and Emma F. Dawson. She was was the youngest of 18 (16 survival).

She attended Dyer Elementary, Other Jr. high and Taft High School. She went back to Taft and received her GED (in her mid 30s). She went to the  University Of Cincinnati and received an Associate Degree in Paralegal studies.

Owney loved growing up downtown and had a ball living her life. She loved talking to her childhood friends; Shirley Ruffin and Catherine Higgins as well as other childhood friends that  she kept in touch with.

At 23 years of age she worked for the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Libraries as well as the Avondale branch.

Owney loved her family very much and would let everyone she met know how big her family was. She loved political shows, crossword puzzles and reading romance books. Owney loved spending time with her grandchildren and her daughter. She had a great sense of humor and a beautiful heart.

Owney was preceded in death by her sisters: Mary Jones, Ella Easley, Dorothy Ellis, Betty Taylor-Dukes, and Frankie Dean; brothers: Ernest, Charles, Robert, Earl, and Joseph Dawson.

Owney is survived by her one and only daughter, Danielle Dawson - Ndekwe; four grandchildren: Chance Devan Williams, Adrian Williams, Asia Cree Williams, Cydney Z' Yreahl Williams;  two great grandchildren: Alex Carter Williams and Chloe Alani Williams; brothers: Richard Dawson,  Louis (Joann) Dawson; sisters: Emma Dawson and Jackie Dawson, and host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The gathering is from 2:00 pm until 2:30 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Walker Event Center (corner of Paddock & Reading Roads), 3939 Redading Road, Cincinnati (45229).   The memorial service will immediately follow the gathering beginning at 2:30 pm. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter  the service and social distancing must be practiced.  Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
