Oscar Newton, age 67, passed away June 12, 2013. Mr. Oscar Newton, the son of the late Harry and Pauline Newton, was born on March 4, 1946. Oscar graduated from Robert A. Taft Senior High School in June 1964 as a honor student. His passion while attending school was basketball. He had hopes of going professional but instead enlisted into the U. S. Marine Corps to serve his country during a time when our country was at war. When he was discharged, he later worked for the City of Cincinnati but decided to move to California to pursue writing music and poems. In his spare time he also loved to draw and paint. After living on the west coast for 13 years, Oscar decided to move back to Cincinnati to be closer to his family. He attended Keys of The Methodist Church before his illness prevented him from coming. Oscar departed this life on June 12,2013 at 10:10 p.m. He leaves to mourn his passing: his sister, Delois Newton-Stewart and his nephew, Victor E. Stewart, in addition to a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19 at Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 1025 E. McMillan Street, Walnut Hills, Cincinnati (45206) with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until hour of service. Military Honors at 12 noon at Dayton National Cemetery.
