Orris "Percy" Smoote age 83 of Cincinnati, "Avondale" Ohio departed this Life on Tuesday October 19th, 2021, at the CHRIST HOSPITAL in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the 7th child of 8 children born to the union of the late Cleveland Smoote and Lucille "Lucy" Smoote on the 25th of June 1938, in Hale County, Alabama. He was baptized at an early age and held to his Faith. His Favorite scripture was Ecclesiastes 3:1-4, as Percy loved life, and laughter and he loved to see others live life, laugh and dance. He attended Douglass High school here in Cincinnati, Ohio. Percy enjoyed traveling to new places and meeting new people. He would one day find himself settled in New York where he opened and owned a successful neighborhood grocery store on 127th Street. Orris "Percy" Smoote had an entrepreneurship spirit and was NOT afraid to take on new yet challenging endeavors. He also had a passion for writing poetry and music.

He is preceded in death by his father, Cleveland Smoote; mother, Lucille Smoote; sisters, Julia, Eula [Dipper], Queen Esther, brothers, Cleveland Jr., Louis [Tony], and Danny.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: a son, Tyrone of New York; a very special, loving and caring friend Cheryl McPherson; children and grandchildren whom affectionately called him PaPa P. all of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Earnest Smoote of Washington, DC; sister-in-law, Marguerite Smoote [Danny] of California; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation is from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Walker Event Center, 3939 Reading Road (Corner of Reading and Paddock), Cincinnati  (45229).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 pm.

In keeping with CDC Covid19 Guidelines, we encourage those who are not fully vaccinated to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
