IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ollie Mae
Artis
December 24, 1943 – March 19, 2023
Ollie Mae Artis December 24, 1943 - March 19, 2023
The Matriarch of the Artis Family, Ms.Ollie Mae Artis was born December 24,1943 in Cuba, Ala. to the late, Emma Bridges- Artis and Captain Henry Artis. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age. She became a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Cuba, Ala under the leadership of Rev.O.B. Wilson where she served faithfully and was a prayer warrior!
She graduated Kinterbish High School, in Cuba, Ala. She participated in a variety of sports and activities. Upon graduation from high school she worked for Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian Mississippi in healthcare. Afterwards she relocated to Cincinnati,Ohio where she worked for Fifth Third Bank as a Data Entry Processor. She decided to become self-employed in healthcare for over 20yrs until she retired. She worked numerous hours making sure her family and clients received the best care possible. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, walking, and loved drinking her Diet Pepsi's.
She was a God fearing, loving and devoted woman to everyone she encountered. She believed in respect, honour, love and loyalty. She always took time out for her family, making sure everyone around her was happy and their needs were met. Sunday Dinners were "The Best", it was very important having family around eating, laughing, and children playing after a long work week. She was a caring, passionate, wise, unapologetic, strong woman. She was an amazing mother and grandmother!
Ms.Ollie to all but she's Mommie to me. Words will never describe what type of Mother she was to me. Mommie was under Hospice care for the last two years of her life. I truly Thank God, through-out the last 17yrs. of her life, I was able to love, and nourish my mommie as she did for so many others. My Mommie transitioned to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with myself and her Lovely granddaughter by her side.
Mommie was preceded in death by her grandparents: Dumas and Lottie Brown; siblings: Columbus Bridges, Emma Lee Bridges- Ruffin, Andrew Bridges Jr., William F. Bridges, James Bridges, Herbert Bridges, Moses Bridges, Jane Mae Artis, Henry Lee ( Barbara) Artis, Ella Jane Knoll, Alice King Artis, Mattie B. Artis, James Artis, Joseph Artis, JT Artis Sr., Jesse Artis, and Reola Hunt.
She leaves to cherish her memories for a lifetime her daughter Loria Artis and granddaughter Longoria Lovely Artis.
Ollie is survived by her sister Alice (Johnny) Wallace and sister in-laws, Earlie Bridges, Hattie B. Artis and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
