Odessa Juanita (Ranford) Greene was born on January 1, 1929 in Byromville, Georgia to the late Isom and Channie Ranford who were sharecroppers. She was the baby of twelve (12) siblings. She answered the call of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Odessa attended school at Lil Poplar in Georgia. She also graduated from a local high school in Georgia. She migrated to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she met and married Calvin Greene, who preceded her in death. She was affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as "Lil Aunt". She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. She served as a member of the Deaconess ministry, the Senior choir and the Missionary ministry. She loved giving God praise. She loved her family and would do anything she could for them. She enjoyed watching her beloved Reds. You could hear her fussing and cheering for them. Odessa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin Greene, her sisters, Georgia Jackson, Ruthie Mae Ranford, Evelyn Leary, Nettie Petty, Iolabelle Cone and her brother, Joseph Ranford, all of Cincinnati, OH, Annie Mae Leary, Hazel Wade, of Byromville, GA., and Eula Lee Simpson of Boston, MA. The Lord saw Odessa ("lil Aunt"), getting tired and took His weary servant home on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from Indian Springs of Oakley, at the young age of 86. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her brothers, Walter and Danny Ranford of Cincinnati, OH and a host of nieces', nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation is from 8:30 am until 9:30 am, on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Beulah Baptist Church - 1834 Section Road, Cincinnati (45237). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 9:30 am Interment is in Spring Grove Cemetery at Cincinnati, Ohio. You may express online condolences at www.HerbWalker.com.
