IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nyema Tiara
Norton
December 3, 1994 – August 24, 2024
God gifted Nyema with the breath of life on December 3, 1994. From the very beginning, Nyema overcame obstacles. She was born a preemie, but God blessed her to go home strong and healthy. Just as God gave her life, Nyema was giving back to Him when she was 29 years old. She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 17 years old. On July 8, 2012, she was baptized by the late Pastor Donald Henderson from the West End Community Church.
Nyema found beauty in life's simple moments and encouraged us all to do the same. She truly wanted everybody to win! She was ambitious and maneuvered with a go-getter spirit. Once she had her mind set on something, she was going to go get it. In high school, she even got her first job at McDonalds, saved up all her checks and bought herself her first car to be able to drive herself to school. She graduated from that same school, Walnut Hills High School, in 2013.
Nyema had a purpose, and she lived it out with so much passion. Nyema walked through life with a gentle spirit, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Nyema worked for St. Joseph for her second job where she cared for the disabled. Possessing many different skill sets, she opened the door up to a variety of career opportunities for herself. She completed nursing aide training on August 29, 2014. She also worked at the post office from May 2015 to June 2022, until she tapped into her true purpose of entrepreneurship.
Nyema was an advocate for the youth, leading her to open her second business, NNNtertainment4All at the age of 26. She had her grand opening on July 5, 2021. NNNtertainment4All was a game truck that could be rented out along with bouncy houses to provide a positive fun-filled experience for kid's birthday parties, special events, backpack giveaways, daycares, and back to school events.
In 2019, Nyema bought her first house at the age of 23, a single mom preparing to bring her second child into the world. She understood the importance of owning land and equity and having assets that she could pass down to her sons to build general wealth. She became a landlord, which was her first business, over that same house at the age of 25, and finally turned her house into a home for others, as she opened her third business, First Home Basis. First Home Basis is a group home, originally started to help women in need, but expanded to cater to a diverse clientele. She became licensed to Operate a Residential Facility for Mental Health and Addictive Service on April 13, 2023. Shortly after that, she earned and received a contract for an Adult Care Facility through Talbert House. Nyema never limited herself. On top of running successful businesses, she completed seasonal payroll services for Paycor, and was also granted a job opportunity to work at CitiBank in August 2023 where she remained a strong asset to their team until the day she departed.
Aside from those accomplishments, Nyema had many other talents. She loved poetry from a young age and had a way with words. She even wrote letters to God throughout her life, especially in her final days.
In Nyema's own words, these are some of the things she loved to do. "Things that make me happy are staying positive, keeping up with my appearance, loving unconditionally, and taking great care of my kids."
Nyema will never be forgotten, and her legacy will continue through those she left behind; her two sons, Nyeem and Noah Norton, her mother, Victoria Norton, her father, Clifford Norton ll, brother, Clifford Norton lll (Briana Norton), niece, Melody Norton, god-sister, Angela Harris, grandmothers, Eloise Hurdle and Joyce Williams, grandfather, Daryl Hurdle (Rosemary Hurdle), aunts; Carmen Mumphrey, Johnnita Hurdle, Naomi Hurdle, Akia Hill (Kinon Hill), and her all-time favorite Tynetta Hurdle, uncle Daryl Jones (Christina Jones), many cousins, loving family, and special friends. Nyema is preceded in death by her uncle Leroy Knight Sr. (Tamu Johnson), grandmother, Maggie Crawford, great-grandmothers, Victoria Knight and Marie Gentry, and cousin Tiara Mumphrey.
As we celebrate Nyema's remarkable life, we thank God for as much time as he allowed us to share with her. Nyema will be remembered as a loving mother, amazing, beautiful and smart daughter, compassionate sister, caring relative, true friend, and a beacon of light who gained her wings and entered eternal rest with the Lord on August 24, 2024. Nyema leaves behind a legacy of warmth.
Visitation is from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the New Prospect Baptist Church, 1580 Summit Road, Cincinnati (45237). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:30 pm.
