Obituary

MARSH, NICHOLAS ANDREW, 37, of Washington, DC, died Monday, September 27, 2010. Nick is survived by his wife, Navis A. Bermudez; his parents, Dr. William and Linda DeVries and Mr. James and Kim Marsh, aunts, uncles, cousins and many wonderful and loving friends along with his faithful canine companion, Bourbon. Nicholas was born in Elizabethtown, KY and was a 1991 graduate of St. Xavier High School where he received the recognition for Freshman Scholar. In 1995, Nick graduated from Williams College Magna Cum Laude with double BA's in Philosophy and History. At graduation, Williams College awarded Nick with the prestigious Gaius C. Bolin, 1889 Essay Prize in Afro-American Studies. Nick lettered in Lacrosse at Williams College. He completed a one year course in Philosophy at Oxford in England where he was Oxford Blue lettered in Lacrosse. In 1998, Nick was graduated from Duke University School of Law in addition to his JD in Law, he was awarded a Master's degree in Literature at Duke University. Upon completion of law school, he clerked on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals under Judge Andrew Kleinfeld in Fairbanks, AK. After, Nick worked with the law firms of Sullivan and Cromwell and Hale and Dorr in New York City, NY. In 2003, he accepted a position as Prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, DC. Nick loved all sports with baseball and college basketball as his favorites. He was an avid reader and cook, loved music and had recently resumed playing his soprano saxophone. Nick and Navis shared a love for adventure and traveling to new places. Interment will be in the Hebron Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from noon until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nicholas A. Marsh Class of 1995 Memorial Fund at Williams College, 75 Park Street, Williamstown, MA 01297.
