Obituary

Elect Lady Mother Nellie McQueen (ne Moore) departed this earthly life at Good Samaritan Hospital on December 6, 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 84. Nellie was born on November 4, 1930 in Jackson, Georgia to the late Roy and Ida Moore. She attended school in the Cincinnati Public School system and worked for years at the Netherland Hilton Hotel. She then worked for the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 65. Mother McQueen, as she was known by her church family, joined the House of God organization under the late Fred C. Scott, where she was given the honor of being appointed an Elect Lady. She served with him for several years until she was led by the Eternal to assist Bishop Scott's son, Apostle Paul F. Scott, in starting a mission church. Over the years, Mother McQueen assisted in several other churches. In her later years, she served under the Apostle Paul Scott until her departure. Mother McQueen was known for the many blankets she made for newborn babies in the church. She had the gift of help, and she happily assisted families in need. There were times when she would leave just what was needed where it would be found later. Since her passing, many stories have been told of how she helped people and how her assistance left such a great impact on the recipients. She never bragged or boasted of how she helped – she did it quietly and humbly. It was just how she did things. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were the joy of her life. Mim-Mim, as she was called by the younger ones, loved them dearly – she responded most recently to her great-grandchild's cry with the words, "What's wrong with my baby?!" when everyone else thought she wasn't really engaged with what was going on around her. The older Mother McQueen got, the sweeter she became. Her demeanor was that of a woman who had long matured in the Lord. She attended church services when she was able, and in the last church service she attended, many were awed by how completely she gave God praise. She believed in dancing before the Lord, and on that day, she certainly gave him his due! Nellie is survived by her children Russell (Diane) McQueen and Sandra McQueen, a sister, Reetha Miller, a brother, Troy Moore, a special friend that she called her sister, Annie Taylor, a very special niece who was dear to her heart, Adora Moore, Diane Dozier, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews, her godchildren Ednitta Chambers, Sheena Stewart, Dajah Bishop, and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Lawrence McQueen. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Walker - Walnut Hills Chapel , 1025 E. McMillan Street, Cincinnati (45206) with visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Share special messages with the McQueen family at www.HerbWalker.com.
