IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Kaye
(Renner) Clear
November 6, 1953 – December 22, 2024
Nancy Renner Clear, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 22, 2024, at the age of 71 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on November 6, 1953, Nancy's life was defined by her deep love for her family, and her boundless positivity, compassion, and creativity.
Nancy always said her greatest joy and proudest accomplishments were her five children: Carly Wise (Brandon), Edward Kennedy (Traci), Gregory Kennedy, Shane Kennedy (Deirdre), and Kelsey Kennedy (who predeceased her). She devoted her life to nurturing, guiding, and celebrating them. Her unwavering love extended to her seven grandchildren—Finn, Renner, Ephraim, Henry, Sloane, Graham, and Cillian—who were the light of her later years. For them, she was not just "Grandma" but a source of endless joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories, whether through her impromptu songs, silly games, or thoughtful traditions.
Nancy shared a loving partnership with her husband, Bruce Clear, for over 25 years until his passing in 2022. Together, they created a home and a vibrant community through their shared work at All Souls Unitarian Church in Indianapolis, where Nancy's creativity and warmth left a lasting impact. As Director of Religious Education at All Souls, Nancy touched the lives of so many youth, guiding them with compassion and care in the church community and beyond. Her ability to connect deeply and spread positivity made her a beloved mentor and friend to people of all ages and from all walks of life.
As the eldest of five siblings, Nancy deeply valued her family and the special connection she shared with her parents and her brothers—Gregg, Brad, Russ, and Rod. She often reminisced about the many stories and adventures they shared, both in childhood and throughout their adult lives. Her bond with them was a source of joy and humor that deeply enriched her life.
Nancy's incredible positivity was a defining trait. She had an unparalleled ability to find light in the darkest moments and to lift the spirits of everyone around her. Whether transforming an ordinary day into an extraordinary celebration or concocting a silly song to chase away a grandchild's tears, she approached life with a creativity and love that left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her.
Above all else, Nancy will be remembered for her profound dedication to her family and the joy she brought into their lives. She showed, in every moment, that love is the greatest gift we can give, and her legacy of kindness, laughter, and resilience will live on in all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held on January 11th at 12:30pm at All Souls Unitarian Church in Indianapolis, 5805 E 56th St, Indianapolis, IN 46226 (Phone: (317) 545-6005} where friends and family will gather to celebrate Nancy and honor the love and light she brought into the world.
