IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Morris Thomas
Moore
July 24, 1953 – January 10, 2026
Morris Thomas Moore was born on July 24, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Marian and Morris Moore. On January 10, 2026 Morris was called home to be with the Lord at the young age of 72. Morris was the only son from his birth mother, Marian Moore but had an elder sister the late Marian Mitchell and younger sister JoAnn Moore.
At an youthful age, Morris along with his younger sister JoAnn, were adopted to the home of the late Eleanor and the late Rousseau A O'Neal I, where he gained a host of siblings, five brothers, the late Robert L. O'Neal (Julia), the late Rev. Rousseau A. O'Neal II (Monica), Ralph Vernon O'Neal (Eleanor), Tyrone O'Neal (Donia), Bishop Todd O'Neal (Linda); three sisters, the late Loretta Emma Gene O'Neal Brown, the late Shirley Johnson, and Dianne Box. As a young child, Mr. and Mrs. O'Neal raised Morris to dedicate and live his life through Christ where he did so as a member of Rockdale (Rocklife) Baptist Church. Morris attended Woodward High School from 1969 to 1972 where he was a proud Bulldog graduate. After high school, Morris went on to join the United States Army where he spent his first 8 weeks of basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina before being deployed overseas in Germany as a SP4, with a M-16 Riffle Marksman metal and working as a food service specialist. Morris would serve in Germany from 1976 until 1979 before being honorably discharged. He got back home to the United States to see his birth mother, the late Marian Moore, as she held on strong in the hospital for her only son to arrive before going on to join the Lord.
Morris then attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned an Associates Degree in Religious Studies. Morris was employed at UC in the mail services department for 30 years before retiring. During Morris journey he became a member of Uptown Church where he would marry Rochelle McQueen. They were blessed to have two sons, Mosheh Yatenga (Morris Jr) and Matthew Moore. Morris loved being a husband and father. He not only taught his sons the Bible and how to worship the Lord, but also how to use tools to work on anything, like the inside and outside of houses, cars, or bicycles. You name it; he was teaching it. Morris also loved being physically fit and riding bicycles was his favorite. You'd probably see them on their bicycles somewhere riding around Cincinnati from Avondale to Eden Park to Downtown Cincinnati or the Loveland Bike Trail. He raised and encouraged his sons to be educated, respectful, fit, and work hard while serving the Lord.
In his later years Morris would return back to Rockdale where he was called to serve, driving the church bus. He even worked for his son, Matthew, part time. He also worked as cashier, dishwasher and cook at Burger King where customers and employees loved his joyful spirit and smile.
Morris leaves to cherish his two sons, Mosheh Yatenga and Matthew Moore; their mother, Rochelle Moore; his longtime special friend, Valerie Neal; two grandsons, Elijah and Isaiah Woods; two granddaughters, Amiya Moore and Aasiyah Yatenga; brothers, Ralph Vernon O'Neal, Tyrone O'Neal, and Bishop Todd O'Neal; sisters, JoAnn Moore and Dianne Box and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who will deeply miss him. Special Thank You to Lakisha Devant, V'Laria and Onesimus Eves, Ms. Terri Holton, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Sheila Maynard, Courtney Curtis and little Elliana for helping him get in and out of his home, to and from Dialysis, appointments and making sure he was eating, taking his medicine and not alone. He always talked about how grateful he was to have you all in his life as family in his final days.
