IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Minnie
Smith
September 15, 1926 – May 1, 2014
Minnie Lee Smith was born on September 15, 1926 in Union Springs, Alabama to the union of the late Christine Byrd and Alonzo Scott, Sr. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Alba Floyd, Alabama. Her pastor was Rev. W. S. Shirley. Minnie was very active with the Choir, Usher Board, was a Young Missionary at 14 years old. Later in life, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and joined Mt. Sinai in 1943 under Pastor W. M. Frisby. The love of people was a passion, no matter what the need was she would give, help, pray and council them. She married Israel T. Smith on February 27, 1949. He preceded her in death. No children were born to this union, she was a mother to many in so many ways. She leaves to cherish her memory: sisters-in-law, Beatrice E. Scott of Detroit, MI, Alberta W. Scott of Cincinnati, OH, Willie Mae Scott of Rochester, NY, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mt. Sinai Baptist Church family, a longtime friend, Winifred, Goddaughter Michelle Blackwell, a devoted caregiver, Christine Washington, many, many special friends including Sandy and Sally. She was the oldest of seven children. Her brother and sister all preceded her in death. Alonzo Scott, Jr., Janie Mae, Arthur Lee, Robert, Lovell, Alexander.
