Michael Butler
Sr.
February 28, 1949 – May 31, 2014
Michael Lawrence Butler Sr, was the second of eight children born to the union of the late William E. Butler, Sr. and Willa Mae (Thompson) Butler on February 28, 1949. He departed this life on May 31, 2014 in Cincinnati Ohio. Michael was baptized at an early age at New Life Missionary Baptist Church under the pastor-ship of his grandfather the late Rev. E.D. Thompson, Sr. He was a member of the Inspirational Choir, previously served as a Sunday School teacher, and served his church faithfully until passing. He attended Steele Grade School and North College Hill High School, where he graduated in 1967. Following his education Michael was employed by the Champion Paper Company in Hamilton, Ohio for more than 40 years until retirement. In June of 1969, Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Elaine Butler. Their union was blessed by the birth of their sons, Michael Lawrence Butler, Jr. and Kevin Andre Butler. Michael and Elaine remained close friends for life. Michael lived life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, gardener, cook and golfer. He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He had a special love and affection for his sons and his grandchildren. Michael was a handyman and would help anyone who needed it. His favorite sayings were "A-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y" and "I'll be here as long as the flavor lasts". He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sons, Michael and Kevin (Rachael), grandchildren, Kameron, Violet and Kolten; mother, Willa Mae Butler; brothers, William, Raymond (JoAnn), Gregory (Joan), Dale (Diane) and Kenneth (Marian); sisters, Wanda and Annette; Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, some of whom called him 'Dad', and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be missed. Celebration services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at New Life Missionary Baptist Church, 6434 Simpson Avenue, North College Hill (45224) with the visitation from 10:00 am until the hour of service. Interment in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Walker Funeral Home-Mt. Healthy, 7825 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati (Mt. Healthy), 45231.
