Michael 'Mike' Paul Hockensmith Age 35 of Danville, Ky. and formerly of Somerset, Ky. passed away Friday September 20, 2013. Mike was born on September 28, 1978 in Frankfort, Ky. to William Hockensmith of Anderson Co. Ky. and Barbara Eldridge Lewis and his dad Daniel Lewis of Burnside, Ky. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School Class of 1996 and Owner Operator of ABC Gold, Games and More in Danville, Ky. Mike formerly served in many positions at Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. He surrender into the Ministry at Ferguson Baptist Church in 2008 and was an active member in many positions and functions. He was former Youth Minster at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ky.Mike was currently Youth Minister at the Mitchellsburg Baptist Church in Danville, Ky.He enjoyed all sports and was an avid basketball fan, football and soccer. He was a car enthusiast, very talented artist, a people person and knowledgeable in general on most everything. His devotion in life was to his Lord and family. Both he and his wife were devoted to their children completely. He married on December 31, 2000 in Tateville, Ky. to his beloved wife, Angela Renee Sluder Hockensmith, who precedes him. Survived by his parents, one son, Michael Andrew Hockensmith, daughter, Naomi Grace Hockensmith. A foreign exchange student, Lucia Mo of Taiwan. Three brothers, Tony (Terra) Hockensmith of Burnside, Ky., William Hockensmith of Anderson Co. Ky. and Tim (Jamie) Lewis of Frankfort, Ky. One sister, Michelle Caudill of Burnside, Ky. and his grandmother, Margaret Sams of Somerset, Ky, Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held Tuesday September 24, 2013 after 4pm in the Serenity Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 1pm in the Serenity Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Dykes, Bro. Brett Brinson and Bro. Jason Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mike will be Daniel Lewis, Tim Lewis, Tony Hockensmith, William Hockensmith, Andrew Hockensmith and Anthony Hockensmith. Pallbearers for Angela will be Jerry Worley, Darvin Harris, Brian Watson, Jim Worley, Lucas Burchfield, Danny Worley, Brandon Hislope and John Blanton. In lieu of flowers the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Michael and Angela Hockensmith Memorial Fund at any location of PNC Bank.
