Merry Jean McFarland Higginbothan, born December 25, 1968, passed away on December 26, 2025, surrounded by love and the memories she created throughout her life.

Merry Jean was a devoted spouse to Jay Messer and a loving mother to her three children: Alison Higginbothan, Joanna Adams, Matthew Isbel, and Erica. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren: Bailee, Kailey, Brennan, Nolan, Christopher, Delilah, Ethan and Matthew. She loved each of them fiercely and took pride in every moment spent with them.

She was a beloved sister to Anne and John, and a cherished aunt to Desiree, Alyssa, Kendall, Breanne, James, Logan, Jaxon, and Jonathan. Family meant everything to Merry Jean, and she held each relationship close to her heart.

Merry Jean had a heart that knew no limits. She was incredibly giving, always willing to help others, and never met a stranger—she loved to talk to anyone who would listen. Her warmth, laughter, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Above all else, Merry Jean loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart. Her legacy lives on through them, in the stories shared, the love she poured into her family, and the countless lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
