Melvin Miller (Butch) was born on June 21, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio to John Burke and Thelma Miller. Butch graduated from Hughes High School, and attended the University of Cincinnati before enlisting in the US Navy in 1967. He served aboard the USS Fiske and while there, received National Defense Service Medal and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. In 1971, Butch received an Honorable Discharge from active duty to the Naval Reserves. There he completed his Military obligations in 1973.

Butch's passion was Karate! He obtained a 6th Degree Black Belt as well as multiple other titles. In 1985, he and some friends opened a Karate School in Avondale.

He enjoyed watching old Western Movies and TV shows, and going to Jazz concerts. He played the clarinet in High School and was a member of the band.

Butch was preceded in death by his father John Burke and mother Thelma Miller.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children Erika Miller and Devin Miller; sister Virginia Berhanu; brother Robert Miller and Nita Miller; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins and special friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on  Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy  (45231).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation,  beginning at 3:00 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
