Obituary

On Sunday January 17, 2021 at 5:21 pm, Melvin E. Hughes, Jr. passed away at UC Hospital due to medical complications.  He will be cremated, and his ashes buried at the Kentucky. Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY.  There will also be a "Celebration of Life" ceremony for Melvin during the summer at the home of his sister Rose, 5333 Romance Lane, Cincinnati, OH.  Everyone will be notified of the date and time of the burial and the "Celebration of Life" when the dates of each are determined.

Melvin was born on April 7, 1956 in Covington, Kentucky.  He served 2 tours of duty in the U.S. Army from 1975 - 1982 when he was honorably discharged.  He later married at the age of 30 on June 13, 1986 to Mary Sylvia Hughes, nee LeVan.  Melvin enjoyed collecting knives; camping and survival games; making perfumes, spices and jewelry; and working with electricity for businesses.

He is preceded in death by his wife Sylvia and by both of his parents Mary (nee Richards) and Melvin Hughes, Sr.  Melvin is survived by his siblings Larry Hughes, Rose (Scott) Hahn, Bob (Elaine) Muntis, Kathleen (Randy) Wright, and Dolores Hughes.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Melvin was a great brother, husband and friend who had a gentle and kind heart.  He will be deeply missed but we find peace in knowing that he is no longer in pain.
