Melva Jean Johnson was born on November 11, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the first of five children born to Jean and Melvin Johnson. (her parents precede her in death)

Melva was raised in Avondale and Kennedy Heights. Melva loved sports and in high school she played basketball, softball, and was  in the marching band. Melva would have played football if girls were allowed to during those times. Melva  enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing cards, she was very competitive.  Melva truly loved life, laughing and family gatherings. Melva attended Samuel ACH, Courter Tech, and Central High School. She graduated in 1967 and achieved her LPN license. Melva leaves to cherish her loving memory; daughter, Jeanie L. Johnson; two grandsons: Erik L. Johnson and Carnell D. Johnson; three great grandchildren: Kiayla Nelson, Ki'Shaun Johnson and India Woods; three sisters: Vivian M. Hooper, Valerie Ware and Anita C. Johnson; one brother, Walter L. Johnson; three nieces: Carla D. VanZandt, Lisa E. Johnson and Toni N. Johnson; two great nieces: Cieara M. Little and Amari Johnson; two aunts: Marlene Menifee and Barbara Lee, along with a host of children, family and friends that she loved dearly.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Walker- McMILLAN STREET CHAPEL, 1025 E. McMillan Street , Cincinnati  (45206).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, 45220.

In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter  the service and social distancing must be practiced.  Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
