Megan Brielle was born on February 6, 1992 to Shawn and Penny Morris. Joining big sister Lauren Ashlee and later DeJa Tiffani Nicole joined the party. At 3 months Megan had cataract surgery and started wearing cute little glasses. At 7 yrs old Megan was diagnosed with Autism and developmental delays. Megan was non-verbal but had selective speech like, McDonald’s, Frisch’s, snacks, and could sing any song she heard. Megan loved coloring, puzzles and stringing beads until her sight started to diminish. Megan lost sight in her left eye and partially in the right eye. But she could still see and pick the smallest piece of lint off your shirt. Megan was baptized in 2000 at the age of 8yrs and loved church, really she just loved praise and worship. Megan began her schooling at Bobbie B Fairfax School where she graduated 12th grade with a diploma from Withrow High School in 2010. That night, Megan danced the night away. Megan loved Disney songs, gospel and r&b music and listened to it 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. A few of her favorites were Kirk Franklin & the Family, Fred Hammond, Dreamgirls and Sister Act 2 soundtracks. Music calmed her, gave her joy and allowed her to sing and dance. Her favorite thing was her boombox until the tablet was discovered.

After graduation, Megan attended Serenity Cove Day Program. In 2015 at the age of 23, Megan was the first of all 3 girls to have her own apartment. Megan had around the clock staff to assist her as she couldn’t take care of herself on her own. Megan loved having her own things but will quickly pack a bag of your things to take with her when visiting. Every time we visited, she would make sure we filled her refrigerator and cabinets, she loved having her own. Megan would also let you know when you have over stayed your welcome by walking you to the door and pushing you out. Megan would come home with us for the weekend or sometimes she would stay until she was ready to go home, which could last a week or two. And always had to have one of her many Mickey Mouse pajama sets, we kept in her special drawer.

Megan’s health started to diminish about 2yrs ago. We were in and out of the hospital with stays amounting upto a week or two at times. After 2 years of testing and hospital stays, it was discovered this year that she had kidney disease resulting in kidney failure, possibly due to medications she’s been on most of her life. The plan was to start dialysis and start searching for a kidney donor. Megan had outpatient surgery the last week of February to prepare her tiny veins to be able to receive dialysis, the surgery was successful. But a week later on March 1st, we received a call from her staff that Megan was in cardiac arrest. Paramedics worked on her for a long time but God had already received her.

We laugh and we cry. And sometimes we just sit still in silence. She was our joy, our happy girl, our worship leader. She always kept God close, always listening to her gospel music, you could feel his presence. Her hugs were the best. Even though at times it felt like a chokehold. We are going to miss her smile, pinches, sneaking food in the middle of the night. Finding our clothes missing. Playing karaoke on weekends with her sisters, reciting every line from the movie Dreamgirls. And going for long car rides with stops at yes, McDonald’s. She would say, Cheeseburger, fries, straw and a shake. We love you so much Megan. To God Be The Glory.
