IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maxine
Carter
June 28, 1936 – July 16, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Maxine Carter, who left us on July 16, 2024. Born on June 28, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of Edwin and Carrie Warmack and the eldest of five children. Her siblings include Pamelah, Barbara, Junie, and the late Pat.
Maxine was united in marriage to the love of her life, the late John Britton Carter. Together, they were blessed with two children, Britton and Jacqueline. A dedicated and compassionate individual, Maxine pursued a fulfilling career as a surgical LPN at Good Samaritan Hospital, touching many lives with her care and expertise.
In addition to her professional achievements, Maxine was an avid lover of jazz music, a voracious reader of mystery novels, and a fan of game shows and the Ohio Lottery. She had a special affinity for sweets and enjoyed many years as an active member of a travel club with friends from the greater Cincinnati area.
Maxine's independence and vitality were evident as she continued to work at a nursing home into her early 80s, providing companionship and care to its residents. Throughout her life, she and John were known for their warm hospitality, always ready to welcome family and friends into their home with a hot meal and unconditional love.
As a matriarch, Maxine cherished her roles as a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Affectionately known as Nanny, she embodied true love and a sense of home for all who knew her. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of kindness and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Maxine will be eternally remembered and deeply missed by her family and all who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Church Of The Resurrection, 1619 California Avenue, Cincinnati (45237). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 701 E. Ross Avenue, St. Bernard, Ohio 45217.
